About

We are the Austin Style Footbag club.  We are one of the first footbag clubs in America founded in the 1970s.  Footbag is also commonly known as “hacky sack” (a trademark of the WHAM-O company).  Most people are familiar with the “hack circle”, a group of people trying to keep the bag in the air using foot power alone.  What many people don’t know is that that is just the tip of the iceberg.  Taking it one step further are four popular games:

  1. Footbag Net: Think volleyball or tennis, but with your feet.  Players bump, set and spike the bag on to the other team’s side of the court to score points.  At its highest level “Net” as it’s commonly referred to becomes a fearsome display of athletic and sometimes acrobatic ability

  2. Footbag Freestyle: You may have heard of tricks such as the “jester” or “around the world”.  This discipline draws upon those and other elements to create “runs” composed of long strings of tricks tied together.  The best explanation is to watch a video:

  3. Footbag Golf: Just like golf, but instead of clubs, you use your legs.  Players use different size bags for driving, approaching and putting.
  4. Footbag Four-Square: Just like the game you played in elementary school, but with a few twists on the rules.
