Hack the Planet (iPhone Game)

06/5/2010 11:10

I just a got an iPod touch a little while ago and saw that this game came out:

Hack The Planet

It kinda looks like “California Games” taken to the 21st century and ported to the iPhone.

Quick Review

I got this game and immediately started playing it.  2 hours later I had lost all sense of time.  The graphics and storyline for this game are outstanding.  It really sucks you in and immerses you in its world.  The gameplay graphics are pretty cool.  My only regret is that the actual freestyle gameplay is pretty limited.  Trick selection is small and there are no delay-based freestyle moves.  Still, the graphics, storyline and everything else more than make up for that to bring you a really fun, immersive game.  I have big hopes for a “Hack the Planet 2″ if there will ever be one.

Get it on the App Store

You can download it here.  Come on, it’s only a buck!

If you’ve played it, let me know what you think in the comments!

Summertime

06/1/2010 12:45

Well, summer isn’t officially here yet but if you’ve looked at your thermostat lately you know it’s already here.  The days have been HOT, which is why we have a weekly session in a spot with guaranteed shade.

We had a great session this past Saturday with 6 people total: Ben, Cody and James, along with Greg, Ryan and Christy visiting from Corpus.  James is back with a vengeance, hitting super long consistent runs with occasionally big tricks thrown in.  Hopefully we can keep the momentum going through the summer.  For now, here’s a classic jam to keep you going through this heat:

Southern Regionals 2009

05/19/2009 19:30

Man am I footbagged-out from this past weekend!

Friday: Taught footbag classes for Wellness Day at Great Oaks Elementary school in Round Rock.  This was a great time!  The kids were very excited about footbag and RRISD took great care of me.

Saturday & Sunday: Southern Regionals in Houston, TX.  I played net, freestyle AND golf.  Lordy, lordy that was a lot of footbag.  I took 3rd in both golf and freestyle, and didn’t place in net.  Apparently Curtis hit atomsmasher > atomsmasher > atomic torque and I missed it.  We shredded a lot, played some golf and net, and I got to see a sweet power metal band called Golden Axe!  All the Texas Footbag Hall of Fame players were there.  I don’t need to name names.  If you haven’t met them before, you need to come to a tournament and meet the many living legends we are so fortunate to have here.

Hack season is in full swing!

04/20/2009 21:36

Hey everybody, just a quick update, because there is a TON of stuff going on right now.  First off, Austin Reggae Fest was awesome!  Last year it was kind of crappy, this year it was much better.  If you missed it, what the hell were you thinking?  Saturday night we busted out a glow-in-the-dark Nighthack and played for well over an hour after dark.  If you just found out about the club this weekend, here is the scoop on stuff we got going on this week:

  • Tuesday 4/21: session in Kyle Park, in Kyle, TX at 7pm.  Email ironcladben /at/ footbag {dot} org for more info.
  • Wednesday 4/22: usual session outside the Palmer Events center at 7pm.
  • Saturday 4/25: EEYORE’S BIRTHDAY. If you come to one event in Austin this year, it should be this one.  It’s a FREE “Keep Austin Weird” themed festival at Pease Park on Lamar all day Saturday.  Hack circles, drum circles, people in costumes, potato sack races, the list goes on.  Crazy fun,  BE THERE!
