Well, news on footbag wire is that our brethren at Hackrifice, the footbag club in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada have shaken off the snow and are resuming regular sessions (hey throw some of that mild weather our way, it’s mid 30’s celsius over here).

Here’s a video from their first outside session last year, hopefully we’ll see something similar soon for this year:

Atomic muted rake

Here’s a new trick I hit a little while ago. Atomic muted rake. After my right leg does the atomic set it doesn’t plant before doing the cross body rake, hence “muted”. This is one of the more stylie tricks I’ve hit lately. Enjoy.

You really couldn’t have planned it more perfectly. Look at this line up:

April 16-18: Austin Reggae Fest

That’s 4 weeks in a row of footbag/hackysack events. I’m training now to get my body in tip top shape for this. It’s going to be one great 4 week stretch. Get out to as many ans you can!

Texas Jugglefest XVII Feb 26-28th

Celebrating its 17th year, Jugglefest is a three-day event full of workshops, games, demonstrations, and shows featuring juggling, unicycling, and related circus arts. Everyone is welcome to come on down to pick up the basics, learn some new tricks, meet some crazy people or just chill out and watch.

Last year we brought FOOTBAG to Jugglefest for the first time and had a blast. Our act was well received at the “Late Show” and over a dozen people showed up to our footbag workshop the next day.

21 hours of workshops, games, raffle prizes, trick trading, and more!

Spring 2010 Events

Cold enough for ya? It’s been below freezing in Austin here all weekend which is RARE. I mean I was used to it when I lived in the Northeast, but c’mon. Footbag sessions have been sporadic here while we go into hibernation. The one thing that keeps me going is knowing what an AWESOME spring we are going to have as far as footbag events. Check out the newly updated Events page.

Texas Jugglefest. February 26th-28th, 2010. Austin is home to some extremely talented jugglers (balls, clubs, rings and much, much more!) and this event usually draws talented people from all over North America. Expect to see some other unique quirky talents like comedy, poi and gymnastics.
Austin Reggae Fest. April 16th-18th, 2010. There are always tons of hack circles at this event. Plus, the event benefits the Austin Capital Area Food Bank
Eeyore’s Birthday. April 24th, 2010. A fun event that celebrates the eccentricity and “Keep It Weird” attitude of Austin. Hack circles galore at this event.
Southern Regionals Footbag Tournament. A yearly footbag event held in Houston, TX. This year it will be in late April or early May, exact dates TBD

Also, some of us will be attending the Las Vegas Jam next month.
